Our technology is as concerned with the movement of signals as with the movement of objects. This observation immediately leads to thoughts of computers, but computers are not the only components of an information processing system. One must consider the performance of all system components; telephone lines and teletype terminals as well as central processors. Perhaps most important, one must know the operating characteristics of man.
