Abstract

The effect of system of production (intensive versus semi-intensive) on some slaughter and carcass traits of Alpine male kids was evaluated. Data adjusted to a common age, indicated that management system had no significant effect ( P>0.05) on carcass shape (carcass conformation and compactness and gigot conformation) and external fat score. Kids raised under the intensive management (IM) had heavier slaughter and carcass weights and large carcass width ( P<0.01). Their dressing percentage and internal fat score were higher ( P<0.05).
