Some Aspects of the Physics and Chemistry of Laser Cutting

Abstract

Although a great of scientific and commercial research has been carried out on the subject of laser cutting, certain aspects of the process are not yet completely understood and researchers in the field are still kept extremely active. The work which has been carried out so far has led to the rapid growth of the industry and from a practical point of view a deeper understanding may have only a small effect on future industrial development. On the other hand, theoretical and experimental research has often given rise to enormous commercial rewards in industries which were thought to be in a stable condition.
