Interferometric and interferential interferograms are compared for optical figuring of telescope systems with parallel light. The interpretation of the interferograms differ when observed inside and outside of the focal plane, for either collimated or autocollimated lens systems. Interferograms of spherical mirrors and lenses at finite distances are interpreted.
