Abstract
The distribution of scandium chelates with β-diketones such as acetylacetone (AA), trifluoroacetylacetone (TFA) and thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) was investigated. It was found that there exists an evident correlation between the distribution coefficient of a scandium chelate for an organic solvent and that of the corresponding β-diketone. This correlation can be expressed as log D M = n log D β, 0 + K. This empirical relation was explained quantitatively by applying the regular solution theory.
