Abstract

A case illustrating the application of Homme's coverant control therapy, and one which describes an extension of it, are discussed. The first case involves strengthening coverants to increase the probability of desired operants and the second uses operants for inducing coverant change. In both cases, an index-card self-verbalization procedure is employed to modify undesirable behavior. The procedure is presented in the context of Beck's cognitive therapy and a broad-based behavior therapy.
