Abstract

Some educational applications of computers in a university chemistry department are described. These include: roman The use of various kinds of computer assisted learning programs which help the student to learn various aspects of thermodynamics and reaction kinetics. Some of these programs are used on an individual basis by students; others are used co‐operatively by groups of students working with a teacher. roman The production of a computer‐generated movie on ‘First Order Reactions’ which is of assistance in the teaching of simple rate processes. roman The use of a chemical information retrieval program which assists with the storage of literature references and permits ready searches by subject, author or keyword combinations.
