Abstract

Many practitioners have struggled with the question of HOW family therapy ideas and techniques can be effectively applied to consulting in the work place. One aspect of this question is: can family therapy interventions be transferred directly or do they need to be adapted and changed? This paper describes the influence that the author's training in Structural and Strategic Family Therapy has had on her work as an internal OD consultant. It provides brief descriptions of how some classic family therapy interventions have been used with work groups. It also presents some ideas on how the Strategic Family Therapy perspective serves to balance and provide new options to traditional OD practices and procedures.
