Abstract
According to the more recent classification of the Medicago genus (Quiros and Bauchan 1988), alfalfa is a unique large species named Medicago sativafalcata complex, reassembling many subspecies, sativa, falcata, coerulea, glutinosa, and glomerata, that were previously considered as separate species.
