Abstract

In his introduction to the collection of essays on the Somatic and Psychiatric Aspects of Childhood Allergies, the editor, Ernest Harms, makes the statement that the larger size of this monograph will permit "intensive treatment of each problem." The contents of the collection certainly bear out this introductory statement. The volume to be discussed includes a series of most extensive discussions on all aspects of childhood allergy, ranging from straightforward clinical presentation of somatic facts concerning childhood allergies to the most theoretical discussion of possible psychiatric and psychoanalytic problems that may have a bearing on the symptomatology prognosis and treatment of the allergic child.
