Abstract

This article examines the nexus between nature and culture, the real and the constructed, and between gender and body as exposed within queer theory and as exercised in performance and installation art. Moving from theories and artistic practices which engage the mechanical body to those of the transsexual body, this article essays to undo the double-binaries implicit within contemporary modalities for somatic identification.
