Abstract

Nanocrystals of europium-doped bismuth tungstate (Bi2WO6:Eu) have been prepared by solvothermal method at 180 °C for 2 h. The products were characterised by powder X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, scanning electron microscopy and UV–visible diffuse reflectence spectra. The photocatalytic activity of all the samples was evaluated by degradation of Rhodamine B under sunlight irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of Eu-doped Bi2WO6 shows higher photocatalytic activity in the presence of H2O2 and explained.
