Abstract

The most difficult problem facing success of future consumer borne automation products is not a purely technical one: how to make products or systems intuitive to use, work together, yet powerful enough to have real perceived value to consumer. The paper describes how existing Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques are directly applicable to solving human interface problem of home automation products even when the system intelligence is widely distributed among different products sharing a common home network.
