Abstract

Abstract The charge transfer intensity of the benzene-iodine complex is determined in different solvents such as cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane, n-heptane, carbon tetrachloride and 1,2-dichloroethane. The results show that with the change of solvent, the charge transfer intensity of the complex is also changed. The thermodynamic properties of the benzene-iodine complex in different solvents are also different. The important role of solvent for the change of thermodynamic as well as spectrophotometrio properties of benzene-iodine complex is suggested to be due to the interaction with iodine.
