Abstract
Spectral changes associated with solvation of electrons in glassy (77$sup 0$K) methanol, ethanol, and 1- and 2-propanol have been studied from 10$sup -6$ to 10$sup 2$ s after a short pulse of ionizing radiation. Continuous changes are observed over this wide range, except for the case of methanol, in which electron solvation appears to be nearly complete before 10$sup -7$ s. The data indicate a very wide range of relaxation times for electron solvation in frozen alcohols. Techniques for data collection over a wide time range are described in the supplementary material.
