Abstract

Crystal structures of methanol, ethanol solvates, and two hydrates of ajmaline, acetonitrile solvate of ajmaline−isoajmaline cocrystal and one hydrate of ajmalinium bromide, are reported. The bromide ion is introduced to determine the configuration of ajmaline by analyzing the Flack parameter. The methanol and ethanol solvates of ajmaline show two-dimensional (2D) isostructurality. The methanol, ethanol solvates, two hydrates, and the ajmalinium bromide salt hydrate are one-dimensional (1D) isostructural. The acetonitrile solvate contains ajmaline and isoajmaline together in the crystal structure. The conversion from ajmaline to isoajmaline is accomplished by heating. The methanol solvate is thermally most stable and the acetonitrile solvate is least stable.
