Abstract

The authors study finite action classical solutions of the Euclidean two-dimensional /b U/(/b N/) sigma models with the Wess Zumino term. They show that these solutions are related to (and so can be derived from) the solutions of the Lax-pair problem for the corresponding /b U/(/b N/) sigma model (without the Wess-Zumino term). They discuss the value of the action for these solutions and prove that all these solutions are unstable.
