Abstract

The solutions of a system of multicomponent mass transport equations for mixtures of real fluids, based on the film theory, have been presented. Two new methods, more general than those known up to now, due to the allowance for the variation of mass transfer coefficients, both with concentration and temperature, have been elaborated. Comparative computations of mass transport in multicomponent systems, exemplified by ternary mass transfer in the gas phase, ternary mass transfer in the liquid phase and the condensation of binary vapours in the presence of an inert component, have been carried out. The new methods give a better accuracy than previous ones when applied to the assumed film model.
