Abstract

The extended Skyrme-Faddeev model possesses vortex solutions in a (3+1) dimensional Minkowski space-time with target space CPN. The right choice of the potential leads to solutions with finite energy per unit of length. Such solutions have a form of waves propagating along vortices with the speed of light. Some possible applications are considered, such as the quantization scheme and the vortex-fermion system.
