Abstract

Many recent studies on safe vegetables have been carried out in urban or peri-urban areas, while very few studies have been conducted in mountainous areas - Where there are some advantages in terms of natural conditions such as climate and land. Using the secondary data and household surveys, the objective of this study is to assess the economic efficiency of the pilot model and propose solutions for sustainable development of the safe vegetable production demonstration in A Luoi - A mountain district in Thua Thien Hue province. The results show that the safe vegetable production demonstration creates high economic efficiency, creates stable jobs, takes advantage of natural conditions as well as disseminates the experience of vegetable growing of household heads. Improving the land-use planning, and investment capital as well as propagating the effectiveness of the model as important solutions that need to be prioritized by local authorities in order to expand and develop this demonstration.
