Abstract

A unified approach to the solution of multi-degree-of-freedom system vibrations is given, and six programs for a certain desk-top computer are described. Programs are applied by way of example to the solution of typical problems concerning a nine-rotor system and a five-rotor system, as well as a plain cylindrical shaft. The flexibility of the computer in its operation, combined with the successive approximation method used, and the low level of the necessary mathematics, show it to be a very effective and convenient means of solving the covered range of vibration problems.
