Abstract

In view of current interest in the use of the Duffin–Kemmer–Petiau (DKP) relativistic equation, the problem of the vector DKP boson in a central field is resolved and the system of first-order coupled differential radial equations needed for an exact calculation of the eigenvalues as well as the full ten-component spinor is derived. This is of practical importance for problems involving massive vector bosons in central fields. This formalism is applied to the free-particle, spherically symmetric square well and Coulomb problems.
