Abstract

Abstract The acid dissociation constants of some 2-quinolone ligands were evaluated by potentiometric methods. The stability constants of the complexes were determined. A relation between log KC and pKL is explained. The iron complex has octahedral geometry. The cobalt complexes are octahedral and square planar. The nickel complexes are in associated structures with equilibria between high and low spin states. The copper complexes have square planar geometry with axial symmetry and an anisotropic nature. The IR spectra of these complexes showed that complexation occurred through C[dbnd]O and -OH groups.
