Abstract

In the current study, the sildenafil citrate solubility is investigated in (2-propanol + water) binary mixtures at five different temperatures (293.2–313.2 K). The experimental solubility data are obtained from the shake-flask method and correlated with some linear and non-linear cosolvency models (i.e. the van’t Hoff, CNIBS/Redlich-Kister, the Jouyban-Acree, the Jouyban-Acree-van’t Hoff, the mixture response surface, Buchowski-Ksiazczak and the modified Wilson models). The accuracy of these cosolvency models is investigated with the mean relative deviations of the back calculated solubility data. The Gibbs energy, enthalpy and entropy as the apparent thermodynamic parameters are calculated utilizing the van’t Hoff and Gibbs equations for sildenafil citrate in the (2-propanol + water) binary mixtures at Thm (303.2 K). Moreover, the density values of sildenafil citrate are measured in the saturated mixtures and represented by the Jouyban-Acree model.
