Abstract

The solubility and solution thermodynamic properties of mesalazine in the binary mixtures of a deep eutectic solvent (DES) and water are determined by a shake-flask method followed by spectrophotometry method in the temperature range of 293.2–313.2 K. The obtained solubility data are correlated using some linear cosolvency models including the van’t Hoff equation, the Apelblat, Jouyban-Acree, Jouyban-Acree-van’t Hoff models. The accuracy of each used model is investigated by calculation of the mean relative deviations of the back-calculated solubility data. The apparent thermodynamic properties of mesalazine dissolution in the investigated mixtures are also computed based on the van’t Hoff and Gibbs equations.
