Abstract

The solubility of naproxen (NAP) in ternary mixtures of {ethanol (1) + propylene glycol (2) + water (3)} at various temperatures ranging from 293.2 to 313.2 K is determined and represented using Jouyban–Acree model and Jouyban–Acree–van't Hoff model. The corresponding overall mean relative deviations (OMRDs%) are 10.8 and 10.9%, respectively. The density of the NAP saturated solutions is also measured and employed to train the Jouyban–Acree model. Calculated MRD% for predicted values of the density of the saturated solutions is 0.7%. Furthermore, the apparent thermodynamic properties of dissolution process of NAP in all investigated solvent mixtures are calculated which show that dissolution process of NAP is an endothermic process.
