Abstract

The solubility of Meldrum's adduct in binary solvent mixtures consisting of (ethyl acetate+acetonitrile); (ethyl acetate+ethanol); and (ethyl acetate+hexane) was measured in the temperature range of 278.15–333.15K. The modified Apelblat equation, the general cosolvency model and the Jouyban-Acree model were used to correlate with the solubility of Meldrum's adduct. By comparing the models, the modified Apelblat equation provides a more accurate mathematical representation of the experimental data. The thermodynamic properties of the solution process, including the Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy were calculated by the van't Hoff analysis.
