Abstract

Concerning the usage of languages in the humanities, the author argues that German scholars using English in their contributions where German would be possible practically weaken the importance of German as a voice in the chorus of scholarly languages. German scholars, politicians and organizations like the ›Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft‹ should be more aware of the fact that German still is an important scholarly language in the scientific communities of Eastern Europe, Russia and parts of Asia.
