Abstract

Soliton resonance phenomena can take place in the ( 2 + 1 ) -dimensional Boussinesq equation which is used to describe the propagation of gravity waves on the surface of water. In this paper, we investigate the soliton interactions occurring in this model according to different values of the phase shift parameter. Then, we specially study two kinds of resonant interactions by means of the asymptotic behavior of solution. In the resonance process, a high and steep gravity water wave hump can be generated, the amplitude of which is about four times of the initial one. The physical applications of resonant interaction are pointed out.
