Abstract
Supplementing the optical model potential by a repulsive core V c allows the Anomalous Large Angle Scattering (ALAS) model to be applied to α-particles. Motivated by recent discussions, an analytical soliton formfactor is used for V c that may be interpreted as a “storage” for kinetic energy in compressed nuclear matter. Computed angular distributions and excitation functions agree well with experiment, thus furnishing support for such a parameterization and the value k = 245 MeV (+10%, −15%).
