Abstract

The dynamics of a wave packet formed by two unidirectional waves propagating in a nonlinear birefringence lightguide with and without linear coupling between the orthogonal pulse components is investigated. Conditions of forming soliton-like pulses are examined for various polarization angles of input radiation with allowance for the dispersion effects of the first and second orders and of the nonlinear effects caused by phase self-and cross-modulation.
