Abstract
Wave resonances in the hydrodynamic model of an isotropic collisionless quasi-neutral hot plasma with isothermal ions and electrons are considered. These resonances lead to the formation of two types of solitary waves: solitary waves proper and generalized solitary waves. The latter result from the nonlinear resonance of the proper solitary waves with magnetosonic and Alfven periodic waves. The possibility of observing these waves in the Earth's magnetospheric plasma is discussed.
