Abstract

The soliton concept developed in the preceding chapter will now be discussed from an experimental point of view. Various techniques have been applied to probe the soliton dynamics of ferro- and antiferromagnetic sine-Gordon chains. We report on inelastic neutron scattering, nuclear magnetic resonance and electron spin resonance experiments in CsNiF3 and TMMC. Particular interest was aimed at the instability of solitons in high magnetic fields.
