Abstract

The existence of plane solitary and generalized solitary waves in slightly dispersive media is proved. The wave processes in such media are described by systems of invertible partial differential equations which are subject to natural conditions, formulated in the paper. The proof is carried out by reducing the order of the corresponding dynamical system describing travelling waves and a subsequent investigation of the flow in the central manifold of the system.
