Abstract

Fundamentally based model for pressure drop in gas−flowing solids−fixed bed contactors is presented, together with a phenomenological semiempirical model for prediction of dynamic holdup. These simple models do not require any parameters that need to be determined by measurements in the actual system of interest. The predictions are compared with all available data and give good agreement for a wide range of experimental conditions, different constructions, types, and dimensions of packing and for a variety of flowing solids properties.
