Abstract

Information on the rates of solids exchange between the bubble wake and the emulsion phase in a gas-fluidized bed is needed in modeling solids mixing and segregation patterns. Experimental data are presented for two-dimensional bubbles, giving wake exchange rate as a function of minimum fluidization velocity and bubble diameter. Comparisons are made with recent theoretical models for wake exchange.
