Abstract

The LGU of Libona, Bukidnon has already prepared a 10- year Ecological Solid Waste Management Plan last 2014. Based on the plan, the municipality has limited equipment and man-power to fully implement the plan and to manage solid waste of its residents. The question lies as to how to improve the existing management plan that will not require a toll on budgetary aspects and make it implementable in the community level. This study intended to determine the solid waste management practices in Libona, Bukidnon. It aimed to look into the relationship of the general profile of the residents, along with the current solid waste management practices. The profile of the respondents was determined in terms of age, gender, length of stay, educational attainment, occupation, and monthly income. While the current solid waste management practices were in terms of generation, segregation, collection and disposal. Using the Pearson’s correlation test, the results showed that there is a significant relationship between age and segregation, occupation and collection, occupation and disposal, and income and disposal. The relationship between the presented factors should be considered to have a better understanding and an opportunity to evaluate and improve the existing solid waste management plan of the LGU.
