Abstract

A 46-year-old man presented with the diagnosis of solid splenic tumor through ultrasonography. History included a laparoscopic left colectomy performed 22 months before for poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, stage T3N1M0. He was given 4 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy with capecitabine and oxaliplatin, followed by 4 cycles of capecitabine alone owing to thrombocytopenia. At admission, physical examination and laboratory tests were unremarkable, including serum tumoral markers. Computed tomography (CT) showed a 3 cm attenuating, ill-defined solid mass in the lower third of the spleen, with heterogeneous contrast enhancement (Fig 1).
