Abstract
The guest ethanol molecules in the clathrate crystals reacted photochemically with the diol host compounds, bis(9-hydroxyfluoren-9-yl)thieno[3,2-b]- and [2,3-b]-thiophenes, to cause photosubstitutions in the solid-state.
