Abstract

Although Ni-rich cathode materials have a high capacity, some critical problems include poor rate capability and capacity fading, limiting their practical applications. Herein, we mixed Ni-rich cathode with the oxide-based solid-state electrolytes finely tuned via the mechano-fusion process to improve the chemical compatibilities between these two materials and suppress the formation of unwanted compounds. The solid-state electrolyte alleviates the side reactions at the surface of Ni-rich cathodes and enhances the battery cycle life. As a result, the assembled cylindrical 18650 lithium-ion batteries with the modified cathode exhibit high-capacity retention and overall performances.
