Abstract

A solid-state multiple-prism grating dye laser oscillator configured in a very compact cavity has been demonstrated. The cavity length can be as short as 55 mm and the oscillator yields single-longitudinal-mode emission ( Δν≤700 MHz) in a near-gaussian temporal pulse of 3–4 ns duration (fwhm). Conversion efficiency is in the 5–7% range.
