Abstract

Solid state fermentation (SSF) was used to cultivate Bacillus marinus on particles of polyurethane foam impregnated with suitable medium for immobilization of bound intracellular lipase within polyurethane biomass support particles (BSPs). Compared with the free dried cell, the intracellular lipase activity of the immobilized cell in BSPs was increased from 680.2 Unit per gram of dried cells to 968.5U/g cells. This is the first report on the cultivation of Bacillus marinus in solid state culture for immobilization of lipase in BSPs.
