Abstract
AbstractA continuous series of homogeneous solid mixtures Co(1‐x)MnxCO3 was synthesized by an autoclave method. In agreement with the formalism of ideal and regular solid ionic mixtures, the excess molar volume of mixing was negligible and the cation‐anion distances obeyed Vegard's rule in the whole compositional range. Solubility measurements using the pH variation method revealed that Co(1‐x)MnxCO3 phases dissolved congruently in aqueous acidic media at 50°C. Thermodynamic analysis of the solubility data showed that a closer fit was obtained assuming regular rather than ideal mixing.
