Abstract

The development program has centered around achieving lower cost and higher efficiency electrolytic cells. For lower cost the following areas are being investigated: low cost materials for separators and current collectors; elimination of gasket seals; use of lower cost catalyst; reduced catalyst loadings; and lower cost lectrolyte. Areas being investigated for higher efficiency are: operation at higher temperature (up to 150/sup 0/C); improved catalytic electrodes; and optimization of the electrolyte and cell design. (LK)
