Abstract

With the development of science and technology, solid lubricants with low friction and long wear life have been widely used in electronics, aerospace, and other fields. Solid lubrication film is often used in high temperature, vacuum, and other oil-free lubrication conditions of friction pair surface, with its relatively low friction coefficient to improve the lubrication performance of mechanical parts, and thus improve the service life and reliability of mechanical products. WS2 and MoS2, with hexagonal crystal layered structure, belong to the non-metallic lubricated materials and are commonly used in solid lubrication films, and have good friction reduction and lubrication ability. Therefore, WS2 and MoS2 have become important lubricating materials and research hotspots of solid lubrication technology under oil-free, vacuum, and high-load conditions. This chapter begins with the structure and properties of solid lubricants (mainly WS2 and MoS2), and then introduces the preparation methods of WS2 and MoS2 films, and focuses on the ion beam assisted deposition method. Then, the preparation of WS2 and MoS2 films doped with Ag by ion beam assisted deposition is introduced, and the effects of doping elements are given. Finally, the application of solid lubrication film is presented.
