Abstract
Abstract Calcium oxide and magnesium oxide are found to be effective solid bases for nucleophilic ring opening of epoxides with cyanotrimethylsilane to afford β-trimethylsiloxy nitriles in a highly regioselective manner without any contamination of isocyanides.
