Abstract

This paper gives the idea of bidirectional power flow control of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor supplied with solar photovoltaic (SPV) array and grid specifically used for agriculture pump application. BLDC motor has high efficiency, improved power factor, small size compared to induction motor. Since solar panel can not supply power all the time to agricultural pump due to change in climatic conditions, hence to get a continuous power supply is a main challenge. So the system is designed in such a way that when solar PV is unable to fed to motor, three phase utility grid gives power to motor to run the pump. When motor is not in use, solar PV can feed power to utility grid, this initiates the source of income to farmers as well. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is implemented. Voltage source converter (VSC) is used between grid and motor to control the power flow direction. This system is demonstrated and checked by using MATLAB/Simulink platform under various test conditions.
