Abstract

A multi-pass side-pumping scheme for solar pumped Nd:YAG laser on 1 m diameter Fresnel lens is numerically analyzed. Using of the Monte Carlo photon-tracing numerical method, three different pumping schemes were studied. The results showed that a large efficiency improvement in a multi-pass side-pumping scheme compared to the double-pass side-pumping scheme. The study demonstrated that the multi-pass side-pumping scheme can double the overall efficiency of solar double-pass side-pumped Nd:YAG laser.
