Abstract

Environmental pollution and high energy use have resulted from the poor garbage collecting system. This is due to poor trash collection methods, which produce odor pollution, unpleasant views, and the breeding of insects, animal scavengers, and rats, as well as the spread of a variety of diseases when some waste bins are left full and uncollected. An IoT (Internet of Things) based Solar Powered SMURT (Sustainably Managed Urban Real-Time) Waste Bin system is proposed in this paper as one of the efforts to tackle the inefficiency of the garbage collection system problem and attain smart cities. Overall, it is an automated centralized monitoring system that offers real-time bin status, allows for optimal collection route planning, decreases collection times, and saves money and fuel.
