Abstract

ABSTRACT In a golf club, players have the chance to rent a buggy to cover the distances in the field. These buggies are electric vehicles that need to be charged and the grid is used to supply the electricity required. In Los Naranjos Golf Club they have no time to charge the cars in between rounds so it is interesting to look for renewable energy as the sun could provide an extra charge while the car is on the field. For this matter, a specific study in situ has been implemented. The estimation of the savings using solar panels with 250 W power was reviewed to economically analyze and calculate the extended range provided by such a system. The results with a 50-car fleet show a return on investment within the fifth year and can lead to an increase in the range in 10 holes for the worst-case scenario (December). The techno-economic analysis, proved that a future investment in solar buggies will results in Average Annual Benefits of EUR15,607 with the total Capital Cost at EUR75,000.
